This talk focuses on the intersections of design and exhibition making to consider what gets taken for granted and how this may shape our experience of art, from font choices and the production of vinyl to the often unseen interventions of curators. It asks what assumptions are embedded in such practices, extending the conversation beyond the context of the white cube to also explore modes of exhibition making in which the specificities of place come to the fore, most notably in the recent iteration of KLA ART 24 in Kampala, Uganda.
