Conducted between Liwan Design Studios and Labs and Heenat Salma Farm, the immersion has broughttogether the two artisans in a close dialogue with local artisans and creatives.
Through a collaborative and co-creative approach, the artisansaim to foster conversations about cultural exchange between France and Qatar through the mediums of ceramics and tapestry.
Two works are featured in this exhibition- ‘Weaving Stories’, a tapestry woven by a collective of four Qatari Sadu-weavers — Zamla Bakhit H A Al-Marri, Noora Saleh A A Al-Marri, Haya Hamad S J Al-Makhdhobiya, Seeta Raschid M Al-Awi— and designed by Muriel Blanc Duret; and a collective sandstone bas-relief artwork produced during community workshops at Liwan, under the direction of Magali Satge.
Together, these two works present an alternative approach using community encounters as an effective tool the exchange of rich cultural traditions and artisanal knowledge.
