This workshop invites calligraphy artists, photographers and multi-disciplinary creatives to create their own artworks under expert guidance using light calligraphy. Light calligraphy is a technique of writing in space with a light source and using slow-shutter photography to capture the results. Over a period of 3 days, participants will follow a creative workflow to develop ideas, DIY their own tools, experiment through exercises and ultimately work on an individual final artwork.
This workshop will explore concepts of spatiality with respect to text and landscapes, Arabic calligraphy and form, as well as narrative development in photography. The outcomes from this workshop will contribute to a video installation and mixed media street art piece. Participants can expect this workshop to increase their exposure to creative processes that are informed by various disciplines, ultimately enriching their own artistic and design practice.
