Ideas FROMM. Industry

Ideas FROMM. Industry residency focused on exploring Doha’s industrial area as a site of production, materiality, and urban narrative. Designers were encouraged to rely on locally sourced materials, as well as production and prototyping facilities in Qatar, with a focus on four key materials: wood, upholstery, glass, and metal. Through close mentorship from FROMM.lab, each designer received structured guidance in concept development, design refinement, and hands-on prototyping, with direct exposure to industrial processes and suppliers. The resulting design outcomes reflected processes of material exploration and design innovation.

Residency lead: FROMM.

Designers: Asma Shalkame, Abdulla Al Obaidly, Noora Al Henzab

FROMM.Lab is the educational and talent development platform of FROMM., dedicated to supporting emerging designers through workshops, mentorship programs, and collaborative design initiatives. The program operates through a co-design model that connects young creatives with industry experts to develop furniture and product designs for FROMM.’s collections and projects. These collaborations are presented locally and internationally at design exhibitions and global industry platforms. With a focus on contemporary furniture and product design, FROMM.Lab fosters experimentation, professional development, and production opportunities, bridging emerging design talent with manufacturing, visibility, and market engagement within the international design landscape.
