Reema Abu Hassan

Reema Abu Hassan is an architect, designer, ceramic artisan, and educator whose practice sits at the intersection of architecture, design, and craft. She is the founding director of Clay Encounters, a ceramic design studio established in Doha in 2018, focused on craft, design, collaboration, and community engagement. Her multidisciplinary practice brings together architecture, digital fabrication, and traditional craft, extending across her design work, PhD research, and teaching at VCUarts Qatar.

Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at Maison&Objet in Paris (2020), the Venice Biennale (2021) and Triennale Milano (2026). She has also participated in design residencies in Morocco, France, and Italy. In 2024, she took part in the Design Doha Qatar–Morocco exchange residency, where she developed Zellige Library, a project that reinterprets Moroccan tile-making traditions through Qatari clay, sand, and travertine.
