With foley artist, Mauro Eusepi, this workshop will address basic techniques of foley: recording steps, object manipulation and other actions with practical exercises where participants will perform and record themselves to create sound effects, understand how to edit and export sessions for sound mixing.

Al Journal Vol. 2 - ‘Resilience and Design’ is about how different art and design media, such as film, music, photography, food, and fashion, can represent resilience. And how design can be a tool for empowerment, organisation, and self-assertion, especially in conflict zones or environmental crises.

Liwan Craft Residency: Future Traditions and the New Authentic

A six-month immersive residency for designers and craftspeople based in Qatar. Through collaboration, research and experimentation, participants will explore the concept of reimagining the oasis and create forward-looking designs that honor the past while shaping the future.

Residencies

Our residency program aims to cultivate local and regional designers through mentorship, collaboration with artisans, funding, studio access, and opportunities to exhibit at design Biennales and platforms. The various residencies at Liwan contribute to designers’ creative growth, with the intention of focusing on local production from concept to final product. We encourage designers and craftspeople to rely on locally sourced materials, production, and prototyping facilities and to be part of the growing design ecosystem that Qatar is developing.
